I have a job for the fall!! I will be teaching 4th grade at Palmer Elementary School 2012-2013. I am so excited!
Getting this job happened so fast. I thought I would share how it all happened. Applications these days are all online which can be a good and bad thing. I like that all principals have access to my credentials and resume, but I wish the process could be more personal. With that being said, I decided to hand deliver my resume to all the neighboring schools to show principals my enthusiasm to teach. It definitely paid off. I ended up meeting a principal and had a wonderful conversation. Unfortunately, she didn't have any openings. I thought that was the end of that, but I got a call a few weeks later from her Assistant Principal, he was moving to a new school as the principal and the his current principal recommended me from the conversation we had. I couldn't believe I had made such an impression. It was such an impromptu conversation, I didn't think she would care to remember. I am so thankful she did. I talked with the new principal and he sat down for a formal interview a week later. I am so lucky that this all fell into place.
I have really enjoyed my time with the boys, but I do love teaching. The way I look at it teaching gives me the best of both worlds. I get to do what I love and still have plenty of time to spend with the people I love.
